Antenatal care and delivery
Antenatal care and delivery provides comprehensive support throughout pregnancy, including regular check-ups, scans, screening and preparation for labour, with continuity of care through to delivery.
What it is
Continuous care from booking to the postnatal check
Antenatal care is a schedule of appointments built to catch the problems that matter, such as rising blood pressure, poor growth, anaemia or an awkward position, early enough that something can still be done about them.
Because many of our patients conceived through treatment in this building, we already hold the history. That continuity counts most in early pregnancy, when the questions are specific and the reassurance needs to be quick.
Who it suits
- First pregnancies wanting consultant-led care
- Pregnancies conceived through fertility treatment
- Twin and other multiple pregnancies
- Previous caesarean section or difficult delivery
- Pre-existing diabetes, hypertension or thyroid disease
Transferring to us partway through pregnancy is common and welcome. Bring whatever records you already have.
Bring your records to the first visit Blood group, previous scan reports, past delivery notes and any regular medication all change how we plan your care. If you do not have them, come anyway and we will repeat whatever is needed.

Questions
Frequently asked
Can I book if I did not conceive with you?
Yes. Many patients join us partway through pregnancy, or for delivery only. Bring your existing records and we will pick up from wherever your care has reached.
Who will actually deliver my baby?
A consultant from the team you have met during your antenatal visits, with a midwife and, where needed, an anaesthetist. You will not be handed to a stranger.
What happens if I need a caesarean?
Wherever possible it is discussed with you before it becomes urgent, including the reasons for it and the alternatives. Planned caesareans are booked with a date and explained in full.
Do you care for twins?
Yes, and twin pregnancies are seen more often, because they carry a higher risk of early delivery and of growth problems. Your schedule of scans will be closer together.
