Our approach begins with a thorough fertility assessment rather than assuming that one treatment is right for everyone. Depending on your medical history and assessment findings, your fertility specialist may recommend appropriate investigations and treatment options, including fertility medication, IUI, IVF, ICSI or other procedures where clinically indicated.
Fertility Evaluation in A Sensible Order, Then The Least Invasive Step
A fertility evaluation answers four questions: are eggs being released, is the sperm capable, is the path between them open, and is the womb ready. We work through them in that order, because the answers change which treatments are worth considering — and often the answer is not IVF.
For many couples the next step after testing is ovulation induction: tablets or low-dose injections that encourage the ovary to release an egg, tracked by folliculometry — follicular tracking, a short series of ultrasound scans that measure the growing follicle so we can time intercourse or insemination precisely.

What Happens, And When
Consultation for both partners
A full history from both of you, an examination, and agreement on exactly which tests are worth doing.
Baseline bloods and scan
Hormone profile and an antral follicle count, timed to your cycle. Semen analysis on the same day if convenient.
Folliculometry
Two to four short scans track the follicle as it grows so we know whether — and when — you are ovulating.
Results and a ranked plan
We go through every result with you and rank the options from least to most invasive, each with a price and an honest estimate.

Do we both need to come?
Yes, please, to the first appointment. Around half of fertility problems involve a male factor, and testing both of you at once saves months.
How long does the whole evaluation take?
Usually two to three weeks, because several tests must be timed to your cycle. We book them all at the first visit.
Will you push us towards IVF?
No. Ovulation induction, IUI, surgery or a period of timed trying are all common recommendations here. We only advise IVF when the tests say it is the treatment most likely to work.
What is folliculometry, in plain terms?
A series of quick ultrasound scans that watch a follicle grow and then release. It confirms ovulation is happening and lets us time treatment to the day.
