Transport IVF provides a coordinated approach for patients whose fertility treatment involves care across different locations.

Depending on the treatment arrangement, monitoring and selected clinical procedures may take place closer to the patient’s location, while the fertility laboratory component is coordinated through Iatros.

Because treatment arrangements can vary, your fertility team will explain exactly which parts of your cycle can be managed locally and which require care at Iatros.

Transport IVF is an arrangement that allows different parts of an IVF treatment cycle to be coordinated between locations.

The exact process depends on the patient’s treatment plan, the facilities involved and the clinical and laboratory requirements.

How Transport IVF Works

1. Initial consultation

Your fertility treatment needs are assessed.

2. Treatment planning

The clinical team determines which parts of treatment need to take place at Iatros and which may be coordinated elsewhere.

3. Monitoring

Where appropriate, monitoring may be arranged closer to the patient’s location.

4. Egg collection and laboratory coordination

The timing of egg collection and laboratory procedures is carefully coordinated with the fertility team.

5. Embryology

The embryology team manages the laboratory component of treatment according to the agreed treatment plan.

6. Embryo transfer or preservation

The next stage is planned based on embryo development and the patient’s treatment plan

Who it suits

Your local doctor has to be willing to monitor to our protocol and report scans promptly. We will speak to them before you commit to anything.

The laboratory stage cannot be moved Egg collection, fertilisation, culture and transfer happen here, and the timing is set by your follicles rather than your diary. Expect to be in Lagos for roughly a week, at short notice, and plan travel around that.

How a shared cycle runs

Before you start

Protocol agreed in writing

We assess you, set the drug protocol, and send it to your local doctor together with the scan schedule and the reporting format we need back.

Weeks 1 to 2

Monitoring where you live

Injections at home and short scans locally. Results reach us after each visit and we adjust the dose remotely.

Around day 12

Travel to Lagos

When the follicles are ready we trigger, and you travel. Egg collection follows roughly 36 hours later.

Days 14 to 19

Laboratory and transfer

Fertilisation, embryo culture and transfer all happen here. You go home after the transfer and test 10 to 12 days later.

Local scans, bloods and fertility drugs are paid for where you have them. Our quote covers the laboratory stage only, so you can compare it directly against a full cycle.

Frequently asked

How long do we need to be in Lagos?

Plan for about a week. Egg collection and transfer usually sit five days apart, and the exact dates only become firm a few days beforehand.

What if my local doctor will not take part?

Then we monitor you here and you travel more often, or we help you find a unit that will take part. We will not run a cycle on scan reports we do not trust.

Is the success rate lower than a normal cycle?

The laboratory stage is identical, so the outcome depends on the same things it always does. What matters is that monitoring is accurate and reported on time, which is exactly why the protocol is agreed in writing first.

Can we do the transfer at home instead?

No. Transfer is done here, by the embryologist who has watched those embryos develop. It takes a few minutes and needs no anaesthetic.

Ask whether a shared cycle would actually save you anything.

For some patients it removes weeks of travel. For others it adds risk for very little gain. We will work that out with you before you commit.
